Client:       Belfast Health and Social Care Trust

Architect: Hamilton Architects

Complete: September 2013

Value:       £465,000

Phased refurbishment and alterations to the Kelvin Haematology laboratories on the Royal Group of Hospitals site. Phase 1 & 2 of the project consisted of the refurbishment and remodelling of the lab space to enable the relocation of blood testing lab equipment. There was considerable remodelling of the existing laboratory spaces including the introduction of new packaged cold rooms. Phase 3 consisted of the formation of a new access route and specimen reception area, thus segregating the lab spaces from common circulation areas. Phase 4 of the project involved the air conditioning of the Main Laboratory space known as the “Kelvin Gym”. This lab space is recognised as the largest facility of its kind in Europe.
