Back for 2021: The IN2 Academy

The IN2 Academy kicked off on the 16th June 2021, this year we are welcoming 7 student engineers and 5 graduate engineers. Also, for the first time, anyone at IN2 can join remotely, so everyone, no matter their job role or experience, can tune into any of the lectures.

Our in-house Building Physics expert William O’Donnell led the practical Daylight and Sunlight Analysis session during the first week and said,

“It was brilliant having the IN2 Academy back and to be able to use some real-world projects that IN2 has worked on. This gives our recruits practical knowledge which they can apply in their new roles.”

Every year we recruit under and postgraduate engineers, the IN2 Academy equips them with the necessary skills for the modern construction industry. We also provide practical skills such as, time management, communication skills, presentation skills, and excellent client service.

We caught up with one of our graduates, Kevin Hughes, who said,

“I joined the team at IN2 straight from university where I studied Architectural Engineering. IN2 gives me the chance to use what I learned and become the best mechanical engineer I can be. The Academy is where I can learn from real-world situations and ask for help and advice with all aspects of M&E and professional development.”

A Centre of Excellence for Engineers

The IN2 Academy plays a key role in enhancing their foundation knowledge in a structured manner to ensure a pathway to eventual Chartered Engineer status for our engineers.

The Academy is located in IN2’s Dublin Office and includes dedicated teaching spaces and support resources in a tutored environment. The structured learning is provided by both in-house Engineers and specialists throughout the Construction Industry.

The topics taught by our in-house experts over the 8 weeks include:

  • Daylight & Sunlight Analysis
  • Site Wind Impact Analysis
  • Project Stages
  • Electrical Strategies
  • Mechanical Strategies
  • Substations & Switchrooms
  • Plantroom Sizing
  • Project Stages
  • How to be a Professional Engineer
  • Lighting Design
  • Lift Analysis
  • Heating Emitters
  • Psychrometrics

The Academy will run for 8 weeks and is an invaluable experience for all our new recruits, we wish them all the best in the Academy and in their new careers at IN2.
