Global Co-location

Data Centre

Client: Global Co-Location Data Centre
Size: 8 MW

The project was the construction of a new-build data centre to an existing redundant warehouse complex within a brownfield site in Dublin.

The client requirement was for a design and build a model that would be constructed within their budget and delivered to Tier 3 industry requirements to be offered as co-location space to various clients.

It was decided from the early stage of the project to utilise BIM for the design and construction of the building. The benefits derived from using BIM were gained from the early stage of the Project.

Early engagement required close liaison with the utility provider and the addition of a 2km MV line and construction of a new substation to serve the facility.

The client’s design team issued a high-level requirement brief and our design team created a project-specific design to meet the client needs and fulfil industry Tier 3 conditions. Forward planning was a key requirement to meet long lead plant and equipment provisions.

The integration of the new data centre to the client’s existing facility located nearby was a challenge and we had to ensure seamless integration with no disruption to the existing occupants of the nearby data halls.

IST testing formed the validation and verification for the client to achieve the industry certification prior to project completion and handover.
